Develop your Navigation

We love the challenge of navigating in the mountains and are devotees of practising the art of using a map and compass. In the UK we have access to very wild and remote terrain, away from other people and marked paths. In order to get into these areas and more importantly out again, the ability to navigate efficiently is essential.
We run navigation courses, for all levels, aiming to be supportive of your goals, from beginner to expert refresher courses.

INTRODUCTION TO SCRAMBLING (North wales)
£220 per person, 2 days. 1:4 ratio
This experience provides you the chance to use your hands to assist you in climbing up mountains. We will tackle some of the classic grade one scrambles such as the North ridge of Tryfan, Bristly ridge on Glyder Fach and Crib Goch in the Snowdon Massif. These will be without the use of ropes.

SCRAMBLING skills PROGRESSION (north wales)
£240 per person, 2 days. 1:2 ratio
On this advanced skills course the ante is upped and we don harnesses, helmets and ropes to look at the techniques and methods for personal movement; to safe guard and assist your progress on harder scrambles up to grade three. These may include routes such Clogwyn y Persons arete and Cniefion arête.

We’ve been exploring the Cuillin every year since 2010 and can offer bespoke courses including Munro summit weeks, Inaccessible Pinnacle days and traverses. It is highly likely that we come up with a highly individualised plan to take into account your aspirations and the weather!

Snowdonia isn't the Alps but it has some perfect terrain for developing your ropework skills and techniques prior to a trip to the bigger mountains. We've got loads of experience on the big stuff so we'll get you slicker, quicker and more confident for big days out.
